1. Nothing against your comments, but on a broader view (including the distribution issues) I really don't get the really English angle that has been taken.

I mean, Snatch and Lock, Stock... were both in this genre and they were loved. As was L4yer Cake...

...actually I think it's all just a big excuse as there seems to be no basis for this odd 'new' view taken on it - maybe it's just an excuse to not gamble on a Guy Richie movie considering how well Revolver did.

(I'm not mentioning that other movie with Madge.

I think you're right. I think the excuse is just that, and that Warner Bros wants to pinch their pennies. I just wish they'd be honest, and stop trying to label Americans as uncultured idiots. We get enough of that as it is... :P

Every bit of news, every new trailer and now the first tv ad, all make me salivate more at the prospect of seeing this film. I'm gonna be a dried up husk of my former self if and when this movie ever opens.

I loved the bit at the end of this spot too. And I have a serious crush on G, but I have to say as a confirmed Guy Ritchie fan, I'd have seen this one if Andy Serkis as Smegel were playing One Two.

5. I love you, Elisabeth! Nothing deserves dripping sarcasm more than a studio executive hesitating to promote an English caper comedy because it's "too English". Isn't Warner Brothers the studio that's earning big bucks off "Harry Potter" (and aren't they moving it back to summer to earn more)? Where's that set -- Brooklyn? Or do they imagine only children can get past the accents and the "lifts, lorries and biscuits"?

6. Fantastic, Elizabeth! You made your point. I'm tired of Studios and TPTB dictating what I will or ill not see in the theater. I'm tired have having my intelligence insulted while Hollywood is about to roll out more widely released dribble. The day is coming when the best films will only be available on DVD. Fine with me. I'll save myself 5 bucks and make my own popcorn!

With the positive buzz being generated about R&R.... I think it will be a hit in the UK!

That aside, if you're going to rag on the concept of Englishness, then would you please stop perpetuating the myth that Brits drink warm beer. You American morons just need to stop spouting that crap. Think of white wine and red wine. White is served cold. Red is served cool. Rather than drinking watered down carbonated piss for beer like Americans do (e.g. Budweiser), in Britain, a variety of different beers exist. Lagers, the pale kind, are drunk ice cold. Some darker beers are drunk cool. NONE OF THEM ARE DRUNK WARM. Unless maybe you're a stupid, uneducated American who's pretending to be British.

I'm glad you like Gerry Butler, but seriously. Name calling Americans based on a really obvious dose of sarcasm is really not cool. Do you think I actually believe there's chimney sweeps and Braveheart Scots, too?

I drank plenty of beer in the UK. I know it isn't warm, and I know that it is tasty. And that ice is plentiful in all the sodas, waters, and Irn-Brus that one orders. Mmmm. Irn-Bru.

And its a common misconception that Americans drink nothing but crappy beer. We not only have a thriving import selection (even in states owned by Coors, like mine is), but lots of excellent local beers all over the country. I know more Americans who enjoy Guinness than Budweiser these days -- and at the proper temperature. But I know it's more fun to think of us all as a bunch of ignorant hicks.
