Fan Made: The Breakfast Cereal Club

When was the last time you watched The Breakfast Club? And I mean really watched the film -- and not some cruddy edited version on TNT? The original version has been airing commercial-free on some cable stations recently, and I watched it the other day completely forgetting how much fun it is when the flick airs all in one piece, with its pot smoking and cursing and awesome '80s teen angst. Not long ago, the documentary American Teen recreated the classic Breakfast Club poster with its real-life characters, and now the above fan-created poster -- featuring our favorite breakfast cereal characters -- has popped up over on IronicSans. Maybe my nasty head cold has me a little stuffed up and not thinking straight, but I think I want to see that movie ... like, soon. The taglines on the poster crack me up -- definitely check out the full version down below, then tell us which breakfast cereal character is your favorite.

Updated: Thanks to techstar25 for reminding us of the video below ... I guess, well, yeah -- Simpsons Family Guy did it!

Fan Made: Watch Gremlins Hijack Your DVR

Because it's important to start off the new year on the right foot, here now is a Gremlins-related Fan Made video that's sure to bring back a few monster memories. Essentially, what if Gremlins somehow found a way to break into your DVR player, scroll through it and wreak havoc on the recorded films? Using puppets created from a hard cast of one of the production sculptures, Sacha Feiner created this video (for a total of $3,000) which pays homage to the alternate scene from the VHS version of Gremlins 2.

Confused? Here's Sacha's description: "In the middle of the movie Gremlins 2, there is a sequence where the film seems to break, and where the gremlins invade the projection booth. For the VHS edition in the early 90's, they reshot a special sequence where the VHS tape seemed to be torn apart and in which the gremlins invaded a John Wayne movie. The DVD just kept the original theatrical version. This is the alternate sequence I made, supposed to replace the theatrical one on the DVD." Some of the films featured include Tim Burton's Batman, Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Exorcist. Very funny stuff -- check it out below. What do you think: Is it time for a Gremlins 3?

Fan Made: Movie Posters as Public Service Announcements

We tend to feature a lot of movie poster photoshopping contests on Cinematical because a) they're tons of fun, and b) they promote creativity and imagination. This latest one is close to being one of my favorites -- over at SomethingAwful.com, as part of their Photoshop Phriday, they asked folks to create public service announcements out of movie posters (or, as they say, "rehabilitated them to be educational, informative, and inspirational"). So, for example, the classic Jaws movie poster suddenly turns into an advertisement to join the Amity Island High Swim Team, and The Spirit poster featuring Sarah Paulson turns into a PSA against germs. One of my personal favorites, although a tad fuzzy, takes the famous Fight Club poster and transforms it into a PSA for fighting infections. Some very funny and unique creations to be found, for sure.

Check out the ones mentioned above and a couple other favorites in the gallery below, then hop on over to SomethingAwful.com to see the rest.

Fan Made: 'Star Wars' Droidel

Droidel Droidel Droidel
I made it out of a PDF file
Droidel Droidel Droidel
It makes nerdy Jew-boys smile

Yes, that's right, Hanukkah celebrators! Now you can finally make your own Hanukkah dreidel Droidel and spin it till the Banthas come home! OK, so maybe it's not as cool as the Mos Eisley Cantina Christmas Tree Ornament Collection that my next door neighbor has, and it's definitely not as cool as the full-size Death Star that my dad is building in orbit around Pluto ... but really, Star Wars + Hanukkah goes together like peanut butter + motor oil. So enjoy!

Thanks to StarWars.com for the high holiday hilarity (and head over there to learn how to make your own Star Wars Droidel). Looking forward to their Obi-Wan afikomen and the Kit Fisto sukkah set.

Live Action 'Thundercats' Nabs Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman and Vin Diesel!

Talk about an unbelievable casting announcement, it would appear Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman and Vin Diesel have landed parts in a live-action Thundercats movie. Not only that, but somehow this news managed to remain hidden long enough so that the folks behind the scenes could create the film's first trailer. I'm, like, completely shocked and blown away ... and totally f**king with you.

The following fan made trailer was actually created by WormyTV, who spent somewhere in the ball park of a year and a half working on this fictional marketing ploy. Seriously. To spend that long on a fake trailer means you have to be one sick and twisted Thundercats fan, but we here at Cinematical certainly applaud that kind of geeky determination. Check out the trailer -- which is being passed around the internet today faster than a joint at a Jonas Brothers concert (OH, he did not just go there!) -- down below, and try to name all the different films featured. Which of these actors could you actually see starring in a film like this?

Fan Made: Star Wars, The Silent Film

It feels like a good majority of our Fan Made posts have to do with Star Wars, and I apologize on behalf of the site (because I'm usually the one writing these pieces) if you're sick and tired of the topic, but I come across these bits of brilliance and, well, golly gee -- I just wanna share them with you, is all. This particular little video was something some dude (or dudette) just created "for fun" -- and it uses clips from all three original Star Wars films, edited at a faster pace in black and white with one of them old school piano tunes used for background music. The result is an amusing time-waster, and kudos go out to its creator. I would, however, like to see another one of these in a longer format with more dialogue cards thrown in. Check it out below, then let us know what you think. Does Star Wars work as a silent film?
